Hole Cutters & Drill Bits
Drilling holes in wall or floor tiles can be a daunting task, but with the right equipment its really not as hard as most would have you believe. Stay away from hammer drills, a good cordless or variable speed drill with hammer turned off is ideal.
For most holes up to 7mm (standard brown wall plug) a spear shaped chamfered drill bit is ideal. Put a few layers of masking tape on the tile to stop it slipping a drill slowly but firmly. The masking tape also helps to stop chipping too.
For larger holes, choose a diamond cutter and guide, these usually require water to cool them. Again patience is a virtue. More details in our blog.
